چکیده
1. INTRODUCTION Infrastructure systems such as electric power, gas and energy, water distribution, wastewater, transportation networks and telecommunications systems are critical to the welfare, economy and security of every developed country. Protecting these critical infrastructures is one of the main challenges for governments and international organizations. In order to develop robust infrastructure protection strategies, it is important to identify and understand the global behavior and intrinsic weaknesses of these systems and their components. Because of the overwhelming complexity of critical infrastructures, it is necessary to model and analyze the mutual relationships that exist within an infrastructure and between infrastructures. These dependencies are often implicit, hidden and poorly understood by infrastructure owners and operators as well as domain experts. So, understanding and modeling the interdependencies are crucial to identifying structural vulnerabilities and implementing adequate protection and mitigation strategies.

Assessment of Overall Resilience Index of Urban Areas against Earthquake considering Intra- and Interdependencies between Different Sectors
Sustainability and resiliency analysis of cities is not completed without considering the whole system of interacting sectors. The purpose of this study is to introduce an algorithm for assessment of overall seismic resiliency increase of urban areas due to the reduction of Intra- and Interdependencies between different sectors and retrofitting infrastructures. The proposed method is versatile,...
متن کاملAgent-based input-output interdependency model
The modeling and analysis of critical infrastructures and their interdependencies are essential to discovering hidden vulnerabilities and the related threats to national and international security. Over the past few years, several approaches have been proposed to address this problem. The so-called holistic approaches are relatively abstract, but are easily validated using real economic data. O...
متن کاملA Framework for Modeling Interdependencies in Japan's Critical Infrastructures
This paper discusses Japanese efforts related to critical infrastructure protection, including several case studies to clarify the risk components and countermeasures. An interdependency modeling framework that combines the inoperability input-output model (IIM) for economic interdependencies and Bayesian networks for operational dependencies is presented. Also, the paper provides new multidime...
متن کاملManaging the risk of terrorism to interdependent infrastructure systems through the dynamic inoperability input-output model
This paper discusses the Dynamic Input–Output Inoperability Model (DIIM), which is an extension to the static Inoperability Input–Output Model (IIM). Based on Wassily Leontief’s Input–Output (I–O) model, both the IIM and the DIIM analyze how the system of interdependent sectors can be adversely affected as a result of initial perturbations to other sectors through willful attacks or natural dis...
متن کاملAnalysis of Interdependencies Between Italy's Economic Sectors
The infrastructure sectors of developed countries have direct and indirect interdependencies. These interdependencies make national infrastructures extremely prone to the cascading effects of perturbations or failures. A negative event that reduces the operability of one infrastructure sector rapidly spreads to other sectors and back to the original sector in a feedback loop, amplifying the neg...
